Nike has recently expanded Ja Morant’s signature footwear line by introducing the Ja 3, a new product designed to support the demands of Morant’s game while continuing the creative direction established in earlier models.

The Ja 3 builds on the foundation of the first two signature shoes, focusing on comfort, support, and responsiveness. Designed to handle the physical intensity of a full basketball season, the shoe features a lightweight mesh upper with perforations that improve breathability during high-energy play. This upper transitions into a translucent rubber cup sole, offering a view of the layered midsole system, which is made from full-length ZoomX foam combined with scrap ZoomX materials for added cushioning and energy return.

The outsole introduces a new micro-traction pattern, shaped by the movement of Morant’s crossover and directional changes on the court. This design prioritises grip and stability, responding to the quick shifts and explosive actions that define his playing style.

Throughout the design process, Morant worked closely with the Nike team, emphasising his desire for a shoe that reflects both his personality and approach to the game. The result incorporates several personal details, including his signature monogram pattern across the shoe and a vertical Swoosh that aligns to form the letters “JA” on the lateral side. The outsole features two quotes—“A happy Ja is a scary Ja” and “I’m not even worried about proving them wrong”—along with a reference to his jersey number, split between the left and right soles.

The Ja 3 continues the visual theme of the “scratch” design seen in previous models while introducing new materials and construction methods. The shape reflects Morant’s request for a balance between speed and control, aiming to support both explosive play and moments of strategic slowdown.
