The Fiora lamp, designed by Heesoo Park from the ArtCenter College of Design, takes inspiration from the way a flower’s scent spreads through the air. Recently recognized with a LIT Lighting Design Award in the Decorative Accent Lamps category, Fiora is designed for those who want to enjoy an intimate and special dining experience at home. The design process and materials
The design process for Fiora was meticulous. The light starts from a central point and gradually expands outward, mimicking the gentle diffusion of fragrance in the air. Various prototypes were developed using 3D printing and sandblasting techniques to achieve the perfect balance of form and function. Special attention was given to the choice of LEDs and materials to ensure the right temperature and diffusion for a comfortable dining atmosphere. Each iteration brought the design closer to the ideal vision, where aesthetics and functionality come together to create something truly special.
The materials play a key role in Fiora’s aesthetic. A combination of frosted and transparent finishes creates a delicate interplay between light and shadow. The transparent base subtly highlights the glow from the top piece, enhancing its ethereal quality. This careful combination of materials not only enhances the lamp’s visual appeal but also contributes to the gentle and diffused lighting effect that makes it so unique.
