NikeSKIMS’ first outerwear collection has been released, consisting of a set of jackets, a vest, a parka, shorts and trousers for women, made in two fabrics: a deep-pile sherpa and a textured water-repellent nylon. Alongside typical neutral colours, this collection introduces University Red, which is already present in several of the brand’s existing lines, its footwear and its accessories.
The campaign for the collection features the cheerleading team of the University of Alabama, which has worked with Nike across all of its sports for three decades.

Sherpa and Crunchy Nylon
The two materials chosen for the collection attempt to provide different answers to various everyday challenges. The sherpa pieces include a vest, a half-zip jacket and a hooded jacket, all made in Nike’s Therma-FIT material. According to Nike, the fabric helps manage the body’s natural heat to keep the wearer warm in cold weather.
The second fabric, which the brand calls Crunchy Nylon, repels water and has a textured outer surface that, per the brand, “adds volume and shape”. It was used for a cropped jacket and a hooded parka, as well as for 5 cm shorts and wide-leg trousers, and it is one of the fabrics that comes in University Red.

Returning lines
Six of NikeSKIMS’ existing lines are back in new colours: Weightless Layers, Stretch Nylon, Performance Cotton Blend, Stretch Knit, Matte and Airy. They cover, as we’ve seen, the brand’s tops, bottoms and basics, which are made for training and for everyday wear, and the new jackets and vests go over them when it gets colder. Matte now also has bras shaped to contour the body, and Stretch Knit has new pieces knitted in a single layer of yarn with no seams.

University Red
Apart from Crunchy Nylon, University Red appears in footwear and accessories, as well as in three other lines: Matte, Weightless Layers and Performance Cotton Blend. It was also applied to the Rift Satin, the NikeSKIMS version of the 1996 Nike Air Rift, an iconic shoe developed with input from barefoot long-distance runners in Kenya and later named after the country’s Great Rift Valley.

“With NikeSKIMS, we want women to feel confident and put together, and this collection takes that even further. The outerwear adds a whole new layer to the wardrobe and gives women even more ways to style NikeSKIMS throughout their day. I’m especially excited about the University Red colourway. It’s bold, effortless and brings so much energy to the collection.”
