The genesis of Tuya Mykonos was rooted in a profound appreciation for nature’s marvels. Before the first sketch was drawn or the blueprint conceived, the central idea was to create a sanctuary for the beloved bougainvillea plant that had thrived on the site for more than 30 years. Twins Studio embarked on a journey to showcase the vibrant beauty of the bougainvillea, making it the centerpiece of their design. This vision set the tone for a project that would transcend the boundaries of conventional hospitality and celebrate the innate allure of the natural world.
To accentuate the lush beauty of the bougainvillea and harmonize with its tender elegance, the design team chose metal to craft a contemporary arbor, replacing the rustic structure that had previously adorned the site. This ingenious choice not only enhances the plant’s prominence but also infuses the space with modern aesthetics, inviting guests to immerse themselves in an architectural masterpiece where nature and contemporary design intertwine.
Every aspect of Tuya Mykonos was carefully curated to reflect the essence of its surroundings. The terrazzo floor, meticulously crafted with precision, celebrates the organic and irregular pavements of the island’s charming alleys while paying homage to the traditional flooring of a nearby church.
