Lee Broom’s The Chant Chambers installation represents the evolution of Chant, one of his best-known lighting artworks. The singular lighting design of the original Chant has evolved into a family of luminaires that will be unveiled during London Design Festival 2026. Based on the original chandelier and Chant Portable lamp, the installation now includes large chandelier compositions, pendants, sculptural wall lights and architectural lighting structures.

Evolution of Lee Broom’s Chant installation
On view at the Lee Broom Shoreditch at Rivington Street, the installation will transform a series of chambers, each dedicated to diverse interpretations of chant, through varying scales and atmospheres. One of the new additions is an expansive square formation that turns the artwork into large illuminated planes.
Endless linear light structure
The other additions include linear compositions that open a new architectural dimension to design. When connected at right angles, the sections create endless lighting structures, creating customizable installations that span from simple arrangements to complex, ambitious compositions of lights.
Smoked atmospheric glass finish
Another novelty compared to the original is the new smoked glass finish. Atmospherically abundant, the darker glass tones enhance the glass blocks’ depth and character. Additionally, the new smoked glass finish strengthens the artwork’s connection to the 1970s glamorous and refined interior projects. The debut at London Design Week will present the latest chapter of Chant and its story. First unveiled during Milan Design Week 2022 as part of the artist’s Divine Inspiration collection, Chant draws inspiration from the architectural glass blocks frequently used in modernist late-night 1970s interior projects.

Since founding his studio in 2007, Broom has created more than 100 furniture, lighting and accessory designs, each conceived by the designer and handcrafted in his East London factory. The brand’s signature blend of classicism and modernity results in experiential designs that both engage and surprise.
The latest recreation of the award-winning lighting piece continues the artist’s explorations of light, art, atmosphere, architecture and their interactions. Lee Broom’s The Chant Chambers demonstrates how a design concept can expand and evolve into a longstanding body of work.
Debut at London Design Festival
Chant Chambers will be on view between September 15 and 20, 2026, at Lee Broom, 91, 93 and 95 Rivington Street in London. Taking place during London Design Festival, the presentation is just one of numerous exciting events that will take over the British capital between September 12 and 20. Other programs include talks, workshops, a market, panels, a design trail, and open studios and showrooms.
