The Shanghai Avenir Sales Center, a recent accolade of the BLT Built Design Awards, is a Chinese building based on the ideas of motion. Designed by ONE HOUSE DESIGN, it follows the curved form of the building it occupies, and its interior is arranged as a loop, with each area positioned along a continuous path that guides visitors through the space.
The reception area extends the building’s curved outline into the interior, and from there the layout moves through several key zones: a dark-toned AV room, a central atrium, a model display area, meeting spaces, and a water bar. These areas are linked without full-height partitions, using furniture placement and lighting to create separation.
The AV room is finished in dark materials and is fully enclosed, providing a quiet and immersive environment. It sits between the reception and the atrium, acting as a shift in mood and lighting before visitors enter the brighter central space. The atrium is positioned at the center of the layout and features planting and natural light, with glass walls surrounding it that allow views into the space from all sides. Built-in curved seating faces the garden area, offering a sense of privacy while still remaining open to the rest of the interior.
Circulation continues past the atrium into the display area and then into a seating zone for meetings, both of which gradually step down in height, following the slope of the building. While going through the building, visitors notice that the materials remain consistent—glass, metal, and soft finishes in a muted palette. At the back of the space, a curved screen wraps behind the water bar, serving as a backdrop for the bar area while softening the transition to adjacent spaces. Light and material choices help define each zone, but the overall layout stays open and continuous.
The interior is organized around movement and open views, with each space connecting to the next without interruption, achieved through the use of simple forms and a consistent material and color palette.
