New collection by PROSA explores the tension and equilibrium between seemingly contrary principles: the precision of geometric shapes and the freedom of fluid organic forms. Simultaneously, the studio aims to bring traditional woodworking techniques to the forefront. By making it clearly visible, the company celebrates joinery, constructive craftsmanship, and manual processes as important parts of its visual language. As a result, the new collection named GARATUJA combines both technical control and intuition.

“Garatuja” is a Portuguese word that describes a scribble, a primordial mark with innocent, primitive, and primarily a human dimension. The “garatuja” does not describe something unfinished, but a gentle expression of mind and movement. A scribble that comes from the body to evolve into a language.
Geometrical vs organic shapes
Geometrical shapes represent the foundation of the collections. Circles, planes, and cones organise space and help with stability. On the other hand, organic forms appear as free, almost intuitive gestures, thus embodying the spirit of GARATUJA. Aura Console’s organic top and sculpted bases represent such a dynamic dialogue between precision and irregular shapes. The interplay between Muirapiranga (red) and Imbuia woods amplifies this conversation. Coming from Amazonian timber and Atlantic forest, these two materials engage in a chromatic and tactile contrast.

The floor mirror, also titled AURA, resides on a conical base. Made of two parts, the mirror explores repetition and symmetry through fragmentation. By breaking the reflection and the concept of self into two pieces, the mirror suggests an alternating perception of space.

Serena armchair and José bar
The Serena armchair and the suspended José bar expose joinery, thus highlighting PROSA’s commitment to deepening its understanding of wood and its properties. Wall light and floor lamp incorporate spontaneous lines and overlaying hand-carved wooden planks that embody the idea of garatuja.

GARATUJA rug and light fixtures
The AURORA wall light emits soft and indirect light, while the homonymous floor lamp changes behaviour depending on the viewer’s perspective. Sometimes indirect, sometimes direct, the beam projects onto the wall, creating two unique lighting proposals. Finally, the GARATUJA rug made from Econyl translates spontaneous scribbles into a language of textile. The rug puts the non-linear drawing in the middle, opposing the traditional orthogonal logic of the rug.

PROSO’s Garatuja collection was unveiled at SP-Arte 2026, where it won the Design Talent 2026. Rooted in expressive, freehand gestures, the collection begins with drawings that evolve into furniture pieces, each carrying the memory of its own making. Geometric forms merge with traditional craftsmanship, while spontaneous lines bring a sense of movement and individuality to every object. Through this dialogue between tradition and experimentation, precision and intuition, the studio creates works that are both structured and deeply personal.
