Continuum aims to solve the issue of disposable infant products. Baby cribs are purchased worldwide only to be disposed of after a few years while they are still in excellent condition. Not only do cribs themselves quickly become waste, but the tools and hardware required for assembly often end up in landfills as well. Before a crib is even put together, it arrives with assembly tools that are typically used just once before being discarded, adding another layer of unnecessary waste. Continuum, designed by Wen Yang from Hunan Baituo Innovation Technology, offers a solution for both of these problems. Continuum, a microspatial furniture system, can accompany a user from the cradle to the grave.

Easy tool-free assembly process
Utilising intuitive, modular engineering and hidden hardware, the flat-packed elements transform into an ergonomic high crib. By removing the top part of the crib and the wheels below, the crib easily transforms into a table suitable for children below seven years of age. Simply replace the slatted mattress bed base with the solid wood table top on the crib’s bottom. The top part designed for sleeping can be transformed into a movable storage unit with wheels, while the curved end panels can be repurposed as chairs for young children.

Once the kid outgrows the small children’s table, it can be turned into a working desk for adults. Simply reattach the chair parts to the sides of the children’s desk to elevate it and place the top at the new height fit for adults. Made of durable solid wood, this modular solution can last a lifetime.

Natural finishes and soft-chamfered edges make the furniture safe for young children, ensuring each piece is fully baby-proof.
