Prominent Flemish architect Vincent Van Duysen and the Spanish brand known for its affordable and well-made furniture and accessories have joined forces to create an exciting furniture collection. Zara Home+ by Vincent Van Duysen was born from the desire of the prominent architect to revisit some of his best-known artworks and styles. Culling from Van Duysen’s archive, the diverse collection draws on his design language and philosophy.

The endeavour coincides with Van Duysen’s 60th birthday, which gave momentum to the series. The architect was ready to lend the key aspects of his design DNA, carefully pulled from his mental and physical archives. Taking self-assessment as the starting point, the artist went through the last 30 years of work to adapt his key elements into a full program complementary to Zara Home’s ideals and pursuit of quality.

Quality materials such as wood, stone, exquisite textures, and finishes have been turned into elegant but accessible items. Solid oak, ash, and leather have been sourced as raw materials. Simple yet visually impactful forms bring comfort and style to any interior. The items were given a number as a coded system that leaves room for future collections.

Furniture and beyond
The collection is made of seats, tables, textiles, stools, decorations, lamps, and accessories. Large modular pieces of furniture, such as a sofa simply called SOFA 1 and SOFA 2 corner model, offer plenty of combinations for display. They are complemented with smaller pieces such as armchairs, footstools, chairs, and lounge chairs. An array of covers for upholstery allows for an easy change of colour and style. The selection of tables made of wood, marble, glass, stone, and brushed steel includes side tables and desks. Buyers can also opt for a full-scale library, cabinet, sideboard, or daybed.

Dining and decorative products
The dining pieces include placemats, table runners, tableware, tablecloths, and napkins. The lighting section offers both large and small lighting pieces. A brushed steel floor lamp and a delicate ceiling lamp made of paper are complemented by table lamps, which feature both geometrical and round shapes. The curved body of spotlights made of iron and steel directs light at various angles. Decorative objects feature cushions, rugs, treys, and sculptural pieces, such as a stoneware collection of vases and a dog sculpture made of ash wood.

Furniture that lasts
The durability of items has also been taken into consideration, as all pieces will evolve with different décor types, therefore standing the test of time. In a deliberate opposition to the one-time-use culture that surrounds us, the collection centres on objects that fit different typologies, bringing calm and tranquillity. The versatility of the designs complements any interior style, allowing it to work well with any décor. Colours range from pure whites and beige, to delicate green and blue, and darker brown and black tones.

The collaboration between Zara Home and Vincent Van Duysen resulted in a truly diverse selection of design objects that bring many options for customisation and prolonged continuity of use.
