An all-wood chair from hanczar.studio enables easy, tool-free assembly and long-term use. Designed as a flat-pack with replaceable parts, the chair minimises its carbon footprint and prolongs its lifespan. The NewHope chair’s name draws on the studio’s belief that any product should be designed and produced in a way that supports the sustainability of the natural world. In line with their goals, the company decided on a renewable, environmentally friendly material –solid wood.
Easy, tool-free self-assembly
The construction process is the primary focus of the chair. To make the assembly as easy as possible, the NewHope chair consists of only three elements that can be connected with just two screws, screwed by hand without any tools. The carefully calibrated geometry of the seat frame ensures the stability of the chair. To reduce the carbon footprint caused by transport and storage, the design arrives at the user flat-packed. You won’t get any tools with your NewHope, as all assembly can be done by hand. The entire piece is made of wood, ensuring the sustainability of the design.
The properties of the chosen material and the easy, straightforward assembly system ensure that every part of the chair can be replaced at any stage of its lifecycle, whether it’s the seat, a lost screw, the backrest, or the front legs. The optional variation of the structural elements reflects the designer’s approach. The NewHope chairs can be stacked on top of each other, making storage and transport of multiple chairs easier, which increases their usability in the HoReCa (Hotels, Restaurants, and Cafés/Catering) industry.
Mix and match colour options
Numerous colour options allow customers to create chromatically rich installations, but also to choose different hues for every part of the three-part system. These colourful combinations of shades highlight every element of the chair, but at the same time provide users with the opportunity to create their own unique chair by mixing and matching colours like patchwork.
