Eureka Lighting, a company renowned for its decorative lighting, has introduced a new luminaire called Velia, a comprehensive system designed to provide architects and interior designers with a versatile and creative tool. It offers a sophisticated lighting solution for various types of spaces, including reception areas, conference rooms, upscale restaurants, and lounges.
A system built for creativity
The foundation of the Velia family is a simple tube shape with a diameter of 2.45 inches. From this elemental form, a huge number of different arrangements can be made. The tubes are available in three lengths of 20, 40, and 60 inches. A designer can choose to hang them as single pendants, either vertically or horizontally. They can also be grouped into larger arrangements. Eureka offers 36 pre-designed clusters that can hang from a single ceiling canopy using one, three, or six cables, making it simpler to create a large, impactful installation.
Layers of light and color
The quality of light from the Velia is derived from its unique two-layer construction. An outer layer made of a durable polycarbonate film provides texture to the surface. It is available in three distinct finishes: a soft frost, a light-scattering prismatic, or a clean linear texture. The inner layer is where designers can introduce color. This thin film of PET is available in nine different colors, including a warm amber that adds a cozy feel to a room and a vibrant pink for a pop of color. Gradient films are also an option to create a calmer atmosphere. The pairing of the outer texture and inner color gives the light a deep glow that makes it look much like solid glass.
Attention to detail
Eureka considered every part of the Velia’s design, right down to the power cord. It features a slim, flat cable that adds an unexpected and clean look to the lamp’s profile. For special installations, the Velia can be installed from floor to ceiling, creating a row of lights that can visually divide a space. A magnetic anchor holds the flat cable to the floor, keeping it taut. This anchor has a safety function, as it will detach easily if it is bumped into, preventing damage.
This creative approach to Velia’s design and its adaptability has earned it industry recognition. The lamp was recently named a winner at the SIT Furniture Design Awards, receiving the prize for Decorative Accent Lamp. This award highlights the success of Eureka Lighting in creating a fixture that is both functional and beautiful.
