A new restaurant has emerged in the heart of Perm, Russia, combining elegance, comfort, and a unique cultural aesthetic. Designed by the Allartsdesign studio and led by designer Saranin Artemy, “Madame Zhu” transforms a historical space into a refined yet inviting dining experience.
A historic setting with a modern vision
Located at 24 Lenin Street, “Madame Zhu” is housed in the Merchant N.I. Mikhailov’s House is an architectural monument dating back to 1874. The building exemplifies Classicism and Baroque influences, standing as a rare gem in the Urals’ urban landscape. Rather than overshadowing its history, the designers embraced it, preserving key architectural elements while introducing contemporary touches that infuse fresh energy into the space.
A refined yet cozy interior
The 1500-square-foot interior of Madame Zhu is carefully curated to create a sense of understated luxury. Pastel tones dominate the color palette, setting a light and welcoming mood. Wooden and marble elements add depth and richness, while soft textiles such as curtains and table linens enhance the inviting feel.
One of the most striking features is the bar counter, which is made from natural stone. Positioned at the heart of the space, it serves as a functional area and a visual anchor that ties the entire design together. Nearby, a fireplace brings warmth and a touch of home-like comfort, making it a perfect gathering spot for guests.
Details that make a difference
The restaurant’s atmosphere is further enriched by its thoughtful lighting. Shadows and highlights play across the surfaces, creating a soft, romantic ambiance ideal for intimate conversations. Seating is designed for relaxation, with plush chairs and sofas that invite guests to linger. Live plants and carefully selected decorative elements bring freshness and vibrancy, ensuring the space feels dynamic yet serene.
A space that invites and inspires
More than a dining destination, “Madame Zhu” is an experience where design and gastronomy come together. Every detail, from the elegant marble tables to the interplay of textures and colors, is crafted to make each visit special. Whether stopping by for a quiet evening or a celebratory meal, guests will find themselves immersed in an refined and welcoming atmosphere.
