Going out for a drink with friends has become somewhat of a trip to a gallery or to an artist’s creative world as more and more bars decide to mix people, cocktails, and design. This is something seen all over the world, which brings a brand new spark to cities and friend groups’ daily lives.
With so many to choose from, sometimes a helping hand is appreciated, which is why the LIV Hospitality Design Awards give you the best designs out there. One such artistic blend of a space is the M’Arks Sky Bar, a lounge, bar, roof-terrace, and co-workplace in London – sometimes you really can be it all.
The interior design studio responsible for crafting the ambience of the social space is Taner’s Sons, led by Mustafa Afsaroglu and his brother Erhan Afsaroglu. The studio decided to base the design in the unique concept of “melt into the sky”, having started from there and evolved throughout the design phase. The result is a dramatic and quite bold design that evolves as the hours pass, making M’Arks Sky Bar a place where everyone can enjoy themselves – there’s a bit for everyone.
During the day, M’Arks Sky Bar has a coffee-filled vibe where people can enjoy their favourite blends, catch up with friends, and work from the comfortable and bright lounge area. Slowly but surely, as the sun sets and the evening calls for something stronger, the ambience goes through a total shift.
The guests are gradually introduced to a moody and opulent environment, completely different from the cute coffee shop that takes over the space by day. At night, M’Arks Sky Bar calls for intimacy and laughter, fluid conversations, and the perfect view over London’s lightened skyline.
The base of the design, with traditional walnut veneer wall panelling enveloping the bar, is reminiscent of the neighbouring Eltham Palace, which brings to M’Arks Sky Bars a well-liked classy touch that leaves everyone feeling great.
“From the briefing workshops we held with our client, we recognised early on that the space had to offer versatility. They wanted guests to feel happy and relaxed during the day, and at night to feel empowered and special. In their own word: We want people to feel like they have been out for an experience, not just a drink”.
