Situated on the pristine shores of Sabang Beach in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the Four Points Sheraton is an ideal retreat for travelers seeking both comfort and nature’s beauty. The resort’s landscape lighting, designed by Jinkie De Jesus of Light Plan Inc., transforms the property into an inviting and atmospheric space, using light to enhance rather than overpower the surrounding environment.
A subtle approach to island illumination
Lighting a remote island location presents unique challenges, but the team at Light Plan Inc. took a thoughtful approach. Instead of flooding the resort with artificial brightness, they used subtle touches to create a dramatic yet calming effect.
Laser-cut bollards scatter delicate foliage patterns along pathways, while strategically placed downlights and wall fixtures warmly illuminate seating areas and timber decking. The interplay of light and shadow was carefully planned to complement Philippine cultural preferences for subdued and controlled illumination.
Creating an inviting poolside ambiance
The pool area serves as the heart of the resort’s nighttime aesthetic. Here, a rhythmic pattern of façade lighting reflects onto the water, producing a striking contrast that enhances the overall ambiance. The design balances visual impact with functionality, ensuring that guests experience an inviting atmosphere and feel secure as they move through the property after dark.
