The SO/ Maldives Resort, designed by Eco-Id Architects, is what can be described as a fashion experience within a paradisiac island. Such a simple description is already enough to sell the resort, but we can further enhance it: imagine feeling like a model when you lay down on white sand beaches and swim in turquoise waters, that’s what SO/ Maldives offers.
Located on a secluded island surrounded by the stunning and very blue Emboodhoo Lagoon, the resort offers both peaceful isolation and exclusive elegance. This luxurious destination makes guests feel like runway models because of the very architectural design that gives it life, as it encourages guests to see and be seen as they move around.
The experience begins as soon as guests set foot on the island. Right in front of the excited guests, an impressive over-water pavilion with sleek lines in cool neutral colours and natural wood, all of which are enhanced by bold accents and a striking red-latticed staircase, sets the aesthetic tone for the sophisticated atmosphere that is to come.
The central staircase spirals up from the lobby bar to the speciality restaurant on the upper level, forming a vertical runway where guests can circulate and enjoy the beautiful sunset views from either the bar or the restaurant while also feeling like the stunning view themselves.
Throughout the resort, walkways are designed with billowing fabrics or timber canopies, which adds a dynamic and fashionable element to the environment. These walkways contrast beautifully with the island’s lush greenery, reminiscent of the dramatic designs and themes seen in high-fashion shows and events. Camp or elegant, guests can choose to add to the resort’s aesthetic either way they want, all it takes is a bit of confidence and a nice catwalk.
