Situated in the heart of Kyiv, this office was designed by Julia Baydyk, founder of Alta Idea Design Studio, to serve as both a functional workspace and a place of relaxation for a construction and development company. The 197-square-meter space is bright and open, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interior with natural light.
Clean lines and warm accents
The design follows a minimalist aesthetic with clean lines, symmetrical forms, and a neutral palette of sandy tones. Dark American walnut wood brings warmth, while brass details on the walls, door handles, and furniture add a refined touch. To soften the office environment, velvet seating and cushions create a cozy, inviting atmosphere that supports a balanced work-life dynamic.
Smart layout with defined zones
One of the key challenges was maintaining the open feel of the space while ensuring each employee had a comfortable and semi-private area. To achieve this, partitions were placed behind each supporting column, equipped with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and mirrors that enhance the sense of depth and openness. The director’s room is enclosed by a glass partition to maintain transparency, while a separate meeting room is framed by custom glass and brass doors, complete with large artworks that make a statement.
Elegant details and functional features
Near the reception, a waiting area clad in walnut paneling offers a quiet spot for relaxation and conversation, bringing warmth to the monochrome setting. A cleverly concealed lavatory is housed within a large wooden cube, keeping the design sleek and uninterrupted. Adding a touch of glamour, the “Physic Side Table,” made of steel with a gold finish and a black enameled top, serves as an prominent focal point.
Finishing touches with character
The space is completed with the Kine Lamp, a steel and natural stone fixture whose shade, inspired by an oriental hat, brings a sculptural element to the interior. This final touch ties together a design that prioritizes simplicity, elegance, and comfort, redefining the modern office as a place where work and relaxation coexist.
