Set against the natural landscape just outside of Moscow, Noise of Silence is a modern retreat that reimagines the contemporary escape through an architecture of quietness rooted in balance, stillness and immersion in nature.

The team at Minsk-based design studio, Zrombim Architects, built this recreational complex with the philosophy in mind that silence is “never truly empty”. Instead, it is filled with the subtle rhythms of the surrounding landscape: the rustling of trees, the movement of water, and the quiet pause that encourages reflection, stillness, and connection to nature.
There is a sophisticated restraint in approaching a project like this and allowing the architecture to quietly frame the surrounding environment, rather than dominate it. Having this strong design intention earned the project a 2025 LIV Hospitality Design Award in the Architectural Design — Resort / Midscale & Lifestyle category.
Although not explicitly positioned as a wellness destination, the atmosphere created by the complex instinctively restores both mind and body simply through the experience of being there.
“At the heart of the concept is the balance between man and nature, expressed in unique architecture, landscape, and atmosphere.”

Designing with the terrain
The success of Noise of Silence is deeply rooted in the project’s carefully considered master plan, which allows architecture and landscape to coexist with minimal disruption to the natural terrain. Rather than making major changes to the landscape, the design team organised the complex across multiple zones that allow the architecture to settle naturally into the existing topography.
“We segmented the territory into several functional zones, each of which is organically integrated into the landscape, ensuring a balance between nature and infrastructure.”
At the heart of the complex is a pier that ties the entire development together, connecting all accommodation, leisure, and recreational areas through a circulation network designed to feel intuitive and seamless for guests. Overlooking the Istra Reservoir and located just a mere 43 kilometres away from Moscow, the project provides city residents with an accessible escape for rest, reflection, and reconnection with nature.

A space designed for the senses
It is within the wellness and hospitality spaces that the project’s atmosphere becomes most palpable, where the design team placed equal emphasis on sensory experience alongside function.
Considered the emotional core of the retreat, the spa and restaurant unfold as a sequence of immersive environments that merge thermal experiences, outdoor pools, jacuzzis, and uninterrupted views of the Istra Reservoir. To heighten this sense of calm, natural materials, subdued tones, and gently curved forms allow the architecture to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

From the open terraces, fire-lit gathering spaces, to the waterfront platforms, spaces for gathering and reflection further strengthen the connection between guests and nature, elevating everyday moments and reinforcing the project’s overarching sense of stillness. In doing so, the design shows us how restraint and thoughtful design can shape the overall emotional experience of a space.

Where recreation meets quiet living
Beyond its wellness spaces, the guest experience of Noise of Silence extends throughout the wider masterplan through a diverse range of accommodations that cater to different forms of retreat and recreation.
Alongside the main hotel, 38 glamping houses are dispersed across varying elevations to maximise privacy and views, and 13 larger private residences are intended for those seeking longer or more private stays without sacrificing urban comfort.
Shared outdoor areas, including gazebos, fire zones, and open recreational spaces, create opportunities for social interaction but still maintain the retreat’s calm atmosphere. Further reinforcing the project’s commitment to nature-driven living, nearly a quarter of the development is dedicated to recreation areas that integrate sports areas, bathhouses and outdoor communal spaces directly into the landscape.
Through this thoughtful balance of hospitality, architecture, and sensitivity towards the natural environment, the result is a retreat that balances privacy and community. One where silence, nature, and human experience exist in quiet harmony.
