The Best Western Premier Malta has redefined the hospitality design concept in the Qawra Peninsula. Breaking away from the traditional aesthetic of the Best Western brand, this stunning property embraces an urban retro approach that seamlessly merges modern sophistication with nostalgic charm. It’s a space that captures the vibrant energy of its surroundings while offering unparalleled luxury and comfort.
Under the visionary design direction of Carlo Schembri, and executed by the talented team at architecture&bold, including Ryan Calleja and Julitta Chmiel Sobieralska, the Best Western Premier Malta has transformed a former apartment block into a 4-star superior hotel.
The design project, which won the prestigious BLT Built Design Award for Interior Design – Hospitality: Hotel and Resort, showcases a harmonious blend of functionality, style, and creativity.
Design highlights
As guests enter the lobby, they are greeted by a captivating ambiance. Warm wood tones, modern furnishings, and innovative accents like a luggage feature wall and a vintage radio display create a sense of travel nostalgia and timeless charm. These elements invite visitors to embark on a journey where design and comfort coexist perfectly.
The hotel’s dynamic personality shines through with playful and bold features. A sports-themed basketball wall and a striking Monaco mural infuse energy and vibrancy into the public spaces, while clever use of mirrors and strategic lighting ensure an open, airy feel despite the building’s low ceilings. Each detail has been thoughtfully considered to maximize the guest experience.

The design ethos extends seamlessly into the guest rooms, which provide a peaceful retreat for travelers. The interiors feature a sophisticated palette of soft tan leather, navy blue accents, and abstract circular patterns that add a contemporary artistic touch.
