The Porsche 550 Spyder, an iconic 1954 sports car, has been reimagined through the lens of Hedley Studios. The legendary sports car is known for reaching a third-place finish at the Carrera Panamericana race, against competitors with much larger engine capacities. To commemorate 75 years of Porsche Motorsport, the car has been transformed into a Porsche 550 J, an exclusive collector’s item.

The legend of Carrera Panamericana
Porsche 550 Spyder is one of the most relevant racing cars in the history of the brand. The car made history in 1954 at one of the most demanding road races of the era, the Carrera Panamericana, with factory drivers Hans Herrmann and Jaroslav Juhan. The 3,077-kilometre race took five days to complete, with Herrmann finishing third overall, just 36 seconds ahead of Juhan in fourth place, while also winning his class. To honour the successful battle against much more powerful rivals, the company used the Carrera designation for many sporty Porsche models.
Limited edition of just 250 cars
Hedley Studios got the honour of reimagining the 550 Spyder for the new era. Named Porsche 550 J ( J for Junior), the car is an official licenced version of the original. Hedley Studios got extensive access to Porsche’s archives, as well as guidance and support throughout the project. 20% smaller than the original, the Porsche 550 J is powered by a fully electric 48-volt drivetrain producing 8 kW in standard specification and up to 16 kW with the RS (Rally Sport) Package. It can reach a speed of 80 km/h and is not road legal.

Customization options
Porsche 550 J comes with a steel space-frame chassis and carbon-fibre body and numerous customisation options. Striking paint finishes range from classic Porsche Silver to heritage-inspired blue, white, yellow and red. And if that’s not enough, the Bespoke programme offers near-limitless possibilities, where every detail can be adjusted to the client’s preferences.
Handcrafted at Hedley Studios in Bicester, the Porsche 550 J is available for order through the company’s website. Limited to just 250 cars, the Porsche 550 J is envisioned as a collector’s item, offering a notable addition to any collection.
