The Miu Miu x New Balance Tennis Collection Combines Performance Clothing and Luxury Design

The intersection of high fashion and professional sport takes a distinct turn as Miu Miu and New Balance launch their latest creative partnership. Fronted by world number two tennis champion Coco Gauff, the capsule brings a highly specific design language to the tennis court. The collection shifts away from standard athletic wear, opting instead for a strict focus on texture, construction and subtle historical nods.

The architecture of on-court apparel

The clothing relies entirely on an all-white colour palette, a deliberate choice that looks back at traditional tennis dress codes. However, the interest lies in the structural patterns. Made from technical stretch jersey, the pieces use tailored darting to create shape while allowing the physical range needed for professional play.

Rather than relying on heavy graphics, the design team introduced delicate, underwear-inspired details to soften the clean lines. Scalloped edges run along the necklines and seams, contrasted by sharp navy piping that anchors the athletic look. The pleated skirts feature hidden splits to aid movement, while open backs give the tops a lightweight quality. For colder moments, the outerwear uses Silk Tec—a fabric chosen because it holds a crisp shape without adding weight or trapping heat.

Deconstructing the 530 SL tennis sneaker

The footwear centres on a new interpretation of the 530 SL sneaker. This version features decò leather, a material choice that introduces a structured, classic texture to a modern sports shoe. While the body of the trainer emphasises geometric neatness, the fastening system adds an intentional touch of chaos. The woven laces are asymmetrical in colour, breaking the uniform look with an unexpected, uneven detail. Aside from the footwear, the capsule includes simple caps and headbands, with every piece in the line carrying a co-branded logo finished in navy and red.

From New Bond Street to the global court

To mark the arrival of the collection, the brands hosted a launch event at the Miu Miu flagship store on New Bond Street in London, where Gauff made a guest appearance before competing in her next major tournament. The imagery for the campaign focuses heavily on action shots to show how the clothes behave when twisted and stretched at high speed.
