Space Gen 2 aims to revolutionise the work office. Latest office pods by one of the leading manufacturers, Silen, are designed to balance the needs of staff for privacy and acoustics with other requirements, such as physical comfort and environmental responsibility. The new collection of pods includes three types: Space Work, Space Call, and Space Meet 2.
Acoustic, modular design
More than an architectural system, the Space Gen 2 is designed to improve the working experience in modern offices. The collection is built on a durable cassette system of 60% recycled aluminium extrusions, with castors for easy relocation. The approach adds resilience to the pods, ensuring a quality acoustic performance (even with many relocations) while simultaneously eliminating errors. The innovative base of magnetic interchangeable panels called Silen Dynamics supports the longevity and the modularity of the design. The modularity of the design allows users to paint the pods into numerous exterior colour options, allowing for numerous high degrees of customisation.
Ventilation system and ergonomic design
Space Gen 2’s human-centric engineering by Silen prioritises users’ well-being. Slim in appearance, the pods feature an innovative floating roof that enhances airflow and incorporates an automated light that signals occupancy. New ventilation system improves physical comfort by directing air off the walls for optimal circulation. Antibacterial-lined ducts maintain a hygienic environment. The ergonomic design of seating provides comfort during both short and long-term use.
Space Meet, Call, Work
Wellness-inspired features appear across all three models, adjusted to the specific purpose of the pod. Designed for phone calls and virtual meetings, Space Call provides a small yet acoustic retreat with Class A sound insulation and two-way privacy. Space Meet 2 is engineered for one-on-one collaboration with comfortable sofas for private meetings. Space Work supports long solo work with ergonomic modular seating and an expanded interior.
Environmental responsibility
The Space Gen 2 pods’ commitment to the environment was backed by an EC Declaration of Conformity and an Ecovadis Bronze rating. The pods are constructed from repurposed materials, inducing 65% recycled glass, 60% recycled aluminium, and at least 50% recycled steel. Strict air quality goals carrying a Certified Indoor Air Quality certification are achieved through minimal adhesive construction, which includes zero and low-VOC materials alongside chemical-free repurposed fabrics. When their life cycle comes to an end, the modular cassette can be disassembled and separated by material type and recycled. The main components are 100% recyclable.
