Inside the Lighting Design of Nowhere Bath: Crafting Warmth, Stillness, and a Fully Immersive Wellness Experience

Nowhere bathhouse is known for its holistic approach to bathing, which rests the mind and awakens the body. The immersive healing experience that is the driving power behind every Nowhere Bath wouldn’t be complete without the proper lighting. The entire lighting system throughout the venue focuses on indirect lighting to maintain a soft visual environment, nurturing its cosy and restorative purpose.

Pools, Steam Room, and Sauna

The bath has several Hot Pools with temperatures between 39°C and 40°C, either with Epsom Salt Bath, or Cloud Bath with relaxing nanobubbles for massages and relaxation. Cove lighting in the main bathing areas follows the architectural lines, providing sufficient illumination without resorting to direct lighting above the pools. The lack of direct light creates a serene, calming atmosphere that conveys a sense of safety. Sauna where temperatures can go up to 90°C and 42°C to 45°C steam rooms require special lighting rated for high heat and humidity, which was achieved with special LED linear fixtures set at a warm 2400K.

Cold Plunge and Common Areas

Apart from that, the spa at 14A Dempsey Road, Singapore, has a 13°C cold plunge, which speeds up recovery and improves immunity after warm treatments. Not to forget the Lounge with a comfortable atmosphere, refreshments, and opportunities for social interactions. To keep the architecture in focus, direct lighting is limited to spaces where it has a clear functionality, for instance, illuminating spatial forms or guiding the visitors. The lighting scheme with a soft light dominance is instrumental in creating a warm and relaxing sensory experience. Modular lighting systems provide sustainable illumination. All fixtures, including LED engines and drivers, allow easy component replacement. Changing these components while keeping the core body reduces material waste and prolongs the lifespan of the fixtures. A smart lighting control system reduces energy consumption by dimming and scheduling usage based on function and time of day. The fixtures don’t run at full capacity, which helps both operational efficiency and environmental concerns.
