Celebrate the year-end creative festival at “Chiang Mai Design Week 2025” (CMDW2025), now in its 11th edition, organized by the Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) – Northern Regional Office. This milestone year amplifies local potential by bringing together designers, artists, entrepreneurs, and communities across the region — while connecting international creative energy — under the theme “Local Plus: Creativity, Technology, Sustainability,” from 6 – 14 December 2025 across Klang Wiang, Chang Moi – Tha Phae, and Sanpakoi in Chiang Mai. Expect must-see programs that “Add” ideas, “Multiply” opportunities, “Divide/Share” knowledge, “Subtract” constraints, and go “Infinite” across generations — uniting the power of “Local Plus,” because Chiang Mai Design Week is a stage for global creativity.

Theme Launch: “Local Plus: Creativity, Technology, Sustainability”
In its 11th year, CMDW expresses “Local Plus” by building on local roots through creativity and technology to drive sustainable growth and international connectivity. The 2025 edition convenes partners from more than 10 countries — China, Japan, Taiwan, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, France, Canada, and Russia. The concept also extends the “Equation of Creativity,” represented by + × ÷ − ∞, symbolizing: co-creating new opportunities; cross-disciplinary upskilling; lower-impact events; and boundless growth for Chiang Mai and cities across Northern Thailand. CMDW is not only a design festival — it’s a strategic city-branding tool repositioning Chiang Mai from a “tourist destination” to a city that is “Crafting Wellness from Local Essence, Inspiring Asia.” The city is now recognized globally for its strengths in creative wellness, creative tourism, creative craft, and music.
Five Concepts: The Equation of Creativity at CMDW2025
(+) Add — Bringing together the power of creatives, organizations, and sectors to elevate Chiang Mai and Northern cities beyond tourism toward new opportunities in creative communities (e.g., craft, wellness).
(×) Multiply — Scaling works to international standards while “adding” ties with 10+ countries.
(÷) Divide/Share — Sharing knowledge and innovation on globally relevant issues (e.g., disaster resilience in a “new normal”).
(−) Subtract — Reducing environmental impact; the festival serves as a model for resource-efficient events.
(∞) Infinity — Reinforcing Chiang Mai’s position as a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and boosting confidence among both domestic and international investors.
