Be Part of the SIT Furniture Design Award and Showcase Purposeful Interior and Furniture Design

The SIT Furniture Design Award announced the launch of its 6th annual edition, welcoming submissions from designers and studios around the world. With a focus on both furniture and interior design, the award recognizes work that is not only aesthetically striking but also functional, sustainable, and socially relevant.

The 2025 edition follows a record-setting year, which saw over 400 submissions from 44 countries, underscoring the award’s global reach and impact. From regenerative homes to sculptural furniture, the winning projects reflected a new generation of ideas about how we live, sit, and relate to space.

Last year’s winners reflected the diversity and depth of contemporary design. A-01 (A Company / A Foundation) was named Interior Designer of the Year for their No Footprint Wood House, a regenerative home in Costa Rica’s jungle. Foster + Partners, working with ESCOFET, earned Furniture Design of the Year for Gather and Tiers, sculptural public seating made of ultra-high-performance concrete. Rising talent Elay Dagan was awarded Emerging Designer of the Year for The Saddle Stool, a poetic exploration of movement and material tension.

“Every year, the SIT Awards remind us how deeply design shapes our lives : not just in what we see, but in how we feel, live, and relate to one another,” said Astrid Hébert, Program Director of the SIT Furniture Design Award. “The entries we receive span an incredible range, from poetic, handcrafted objects to solutions that address real social and environmental needs. They are thoughtful, courageous, and often deeply personal. It’s also a privilege to bring together such a committed group of jurors from around the world, people who care deeply about the role of design in creating a better, more inclusive future.”

The 2025 jury panel includes a distinguished international group of leaders from across the design industry, each bringing years of experience and sharp insight into what makes a project stand out. Jurors such as Jader Almeida in Brazil, Alain Gilles in Belgium, Lilian González-González in Mexico, Richie Moalosi in Botswana, Bo Zhang in the United States, Steven Yeung in Hong Kong, and Fereshteh Haji Gholami in Iran represent a truly global perspective. Their expertise ensures that each submission is reviewed with care, fairness, and a deep understanding of the many ways design can shape our lives.

The SIT Award accepts submissions across a wide range of categories, including seating, lighting, tables, outdoor and garden furniture, homeware, and kitchen and bathroom pieces, as well as full-scale interior design projects in residential, hospitality, and commercial spaces. Whether the work is conceptual, in development, or already completed, designers at every career stage — from emerging students to established studios — are encouraged to take part.

Winning the SIT Award comes with meaningful recognition and international visibility. Laureates are featured in the official SIT Winners Catalog and benefit from global media coverage, digital promotion, and long-term visibility within the design industry. Beyond the prestige, the award offers a chance to join a growing community of creative professionals whose work is shaping the future of how we live and interact with our environments.

Submissions are now open, and designers who apply before the Early Bird deadline of September 8, 2024, will enjoy a 10% discount on entry fees. With a legacy of celebrating thoughtful, innovative, and human-centered design, the SIT Furniture Design Award invites the world’s most creative minds to share their vision.
