Hello Wood revealed their latest project, a CLT House tucked away in the rural Hungarian terrain with a 135 square-meter terrace on the water’s edge, an ideal escape place. Here, the property blends in with nature continuing the same earthy tones throughout.
Although the house itself is small, it has all the necessities for comfortable living inside. Consisting of two rooms—the first room is a combination of a living area, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a bathroom, and the second is a guest room. Here one can leave all the worries behind and reunite with nature leaving a busy life.
In between these rooms is a summer kitchen with a fridge, an oven, a microwave, and a small counter for visitors to cook their natural and healthy meals—the only right choice when being in such a serene environment.
The materials used in the interior are thought through, linking them to the landscape. The cross-laminated timber and the wooden facade’s surface, that was treated with the yakisugi also known as the Shou Sugi Ban method, in which carefully selected virgin wood is cut into planks, dried in the sun, burned on the surface creating a thin layer of char, and brushed and sealed with oil. This is to ensure that the house will stand the test of time.
In addition to the wooden details in the house, the wide floor-to-ceiling windows are what make this house stand out. It not only invites the daylight in, brightening up every corner of the house, and making a wooden facade look luminous, but it also complements the charring wooden facade on the outside.
The terrace of the house allows the space for family get-togethers with a fireplace on the outside making it ideal for late summer-early fall nights. The green rooftop that allows nature to take its course by growing flowers, herbs or maybe just grass, is a continuation of the environment the house was built in. With the pond full of fish and green meadows all around, this house is an ideal escape place.
