The Power Nap Chair is one of those pieces of furniture that makes one think, “Where have you been all my life?”. Designed to address the demands of modern life by promoting rest and rejuvenation, this chair encourages users to stop for a bit and rest, reminding them that one shouldn’t forget the art of power napping—or, as the Portuguese and Spanish have been doing since forever, the art of siesta.
This chair was designed carefully with the human body in mind. When lying down, the body is continuously set in an optimal position for napping, since the chair’s ergonomics help alleviate pressure on the lower back and enhance blood flow by elevating the feet.
Aesthetics were combined with functionality in this design. The chair’s upholstery consists of triangular pillows that contour one’s body shape. A distinctive “hood” of sorts is perhaps what proves this point the most, as it not only helps minimise light and reduce noise but also creates the perfect nook of relaxation, no matter where you are. The Power Nap Chair is well suited for both large open spaces and small offices, as it is lightweight and doesn’t take up much space.
The materials are what make everything this chair promises possible, as they are high-quality and both durable and environmentally conscious. The upholstery, for example, is made from Wolle fabric, known for being dirt-resistant and flame-retardant. The frame is constructed from birch plywood, hand-sanded, and finished with non-toxic linseed oil. Tailor-made foam, which is biodegradable and also flame-resistant, ensures that the users will always find comfort when laying down. Carbon steel profiles, machine-bent and powder-coated, provide a sturdy and long-lasting foundation for the chair, perfect to ensure that the office will always have the perfect place for employees to close their eyes for a bit and feel rejuvenated after only a few minutes.
