Studioforma’s Elegant Merge of 19th-Century Paris and Modern Chic

Header: Studioforma

Studioforma has recently taken on the challenge of transforming the interior of a 19th-century building into the effortlessly chic look that is the mix of past and present. The studio found it very important to respect the character and historical features of the building, so the final work shows the splash of edgy and contemporary details on a bourgeois background.

Elegance and serenity

As you step inside, the natural light-filled room takes you aback, a detail which makes the space appear more open. Every corner is illuminated, putting the spotlight on both the apartment itself and the décor.

The decoration candidly shares the attention with the bones of the building, as the prominent off-white palette brings out the dark hardwood floors and wall panels. This neutrality is but a play of light and shadow, bringing both the historical elegance and the light serenity forward. The fireplace, of Carrara marble, breaks the white. With a bright red painting above, this is the breakthrough point from this room to the next.

Parisian drama

The royal blue room shifts the narrative to the edgier side of the décor. Parisian windows surround the room, the city’s landscape offering as much as any painting would. A sculptural red coffee table, modern royal blue sofas colour-matching with a grand carpet, and dark-coloured walls contrasting with light-toned flooring. Lightning fixtures in gold seal the deal: this palpable change full of contrasting colours makes for the perfect dramatic effect.

The design is elegant and thoughtful as the décor accentuates the classic elements of the building. The result is an apartment that certainly feels Parisian: aware, unapologetic, modern and respectful of its roots.
