Rebloom Studio Petal Vase Turns Flower Waste Into Textured Home Design

The floral industry has a hidden, messy side. While a fresh bouquet represents love or celebration, the journey from wholesale markets to our homes leaves behind a trail of massive waste. Every year, thousands of tons of flowers are burned or thrown away before they even reach the shop floor because they wilt too quickly. This not only wastes the beauty, but it also harms the planet as rotting flowers in landfills leak greenhouse gases. Rebloom Studio decided to change this story, moving away from a culture of quick disposal toward something that lasts.

Giving wilted flowers a new purpose

The Petal Vase is a clever piece of design that takes what we usually call “trash” and gives it a second life. Instead of letting discarded blooms rot, the team at Rebloom Studio collects them in bulk from wholesale markets. These flowers are dried out, ground down, and mixed with Korean paper pulp and a natural binder. This mixture is then pressed into a mould to create a sturdy, physical object.

The result is a vase that feels alive. Because the materials come from real petals, every single vase has its own specific texture and colour. No two are the same because no two batches of discarded flowers are identical. It measures 120 by 120 by 230mm, making it a compact but meaningful addition to a room. Inside the pulp shell, a glass cylinder holds the water, ensuring the outer material stays dry while your new flowers stay fresh.

Process rooted in nature

Creating the Petal Vase wasn’t an overnight success. The team spent two months experimenting with different mixes and mock-ups to get the feel just right. They wanted to “transform disappearance into revival,” making sure that the sentiment behind a flower didn’t end just because the petals started to curl.

The manufacturing journey is quite a feat of engineering. It starts with sorting and dehydrating the collected flowers, followed by grinding them into a fine dust. Once mixed with the recycled paper fibres, the pulp is pressed into shape and dried. After it comes out of the mould, it receives a waterproof finish to make it practical for home use. Despite this transformation, the vase stays true to its roots: once it has reached the end of its long life, it is biodegradable and can return to the earth without leaving a trace.

Sustainable inside and out

The commitment to the environment doesn’t stop at the vase itself. Rebloom Studio thought about how the product reaches your front door. The Petal Vase and its glass insert arrive in sturdy paper tubes packed with eco-friendly cushioning. These tubes are made from sustainable kraft paper, designed so you don’t have to bin them immediately. You can reuse the packaging for storage or other household needs, keeping the cycle of reuse going.

The Petal Vase is a smart solution to a growing environmental problem. Rebloom Studio took the byproducts of the bouquet industry and turned them into something functional, showing us that waste is simply a resource we haven’t used properly yet. It proves that we can enjoy the elegance of nature without the guilt of contributing to the climate crisis. When we choose objects that are built to return to the soil, we help close the loop on waste and make our homes a little bit kinder to the world outside.
