To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the blockbuster movie Ghostbusters, PUMA is embarking on a collaborative journey. The result of this is two SUEDE XL colors inspired by two of the main villains in the franchise, namely Slimer and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.
Even though the movie was released in the 1980s there are still many fans who haven’t forgotten the heroic exploits of Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz, and Peter Venkman. Reboots of the original Ghostbusters gained popularity in the past years reviving the famous heroes and bringing their heritage back to their fandom.
The Marshmallow man and Slimer are just the perfect combination for the designs of the sneakers. Suede XL and the marshmallow man seem to be the perfect match considering the shoe’s puffed-up tongue, chunky laces, and wide construction. This character could not have been paired with e better fitting shoe.
The sneakers draw attention to the lateral quarter which has a banner inspired by Stay-Puft’s red hat. Additionally, a blue Formstrip bulges out just underneath, while the heel features a bulbous Marshmallow-inspired structure for branding. PUMA also brings the graphic to a semi-translucent outsole.
Looking at Slimer, the funny character everyone loves, his pair of PUMA comes in all-green suede upper, balancing two shades across the base and Fromstrips. The outsole has a large hot dog graphic, which is meant to reflect Slimer’s encounters with street food staples throughout the movies. This is also visible in the 2016 reboot of the movie when Slimer attacks a hot dog stand.
Both pairs come with branded Ghostbusters x PUMA logos on the tongue and insoles.
The Ghostbusters x PUMA collection also includes two graphic t-shirts and it will release online via PUMA on October 1st. The designs will also be available at the brand’s NYC flagship and selected retailers on October 3rd.
