A new, sleek design in three colours

Magic 9 Pro Max debuts as the first flagship from the Honor Pro Max series. After teasing the phone at the ROBOT PHONE launch event in August, the company has now officially released its latest smartphone. The upgraded design moves the circular camera ring from the centre to the left side. Housed in a wide rectangular frame, the camera is accompanied by a big LED flash, a periscope zoom and ARRI branding. Vertically arranged primary sensor and ultrawide-angle sensor are located on the right side of the frame, completing the refined design from the back.

On the front lies a 6.8-inch Supreme Black Diamond OLED screen with 2868 x 1320 pixel resolution and a 20 Hz refresh rate. The maximum brightness of 10000 nits is accompanied by 4320Hz high-frequency (Pulse Width Modulation) PWM dimming designed to eliminate visible flickering. Slim 0.98mm bezel screen border gives the display an almost borderless appearance. The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max comes in Silver, Shadow Black and Olive/Moss Green.

Chipset and memory

The Honor Magic 9 Pro Max is powered by Qualcomm’s sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 2nm tech Phantom and Engine 3.0, built to handle heavier on-device workloads and intensive graphics while reducing power consumption. LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 flash storage support AI applications. Honor Jade Plate-level cooling system 2.0 regulates heating, while RF chip C3 ensures stable cellular and wireless connectivity in complex network environments.

Magic 9 Pro Max features a cinematic-grade gun microphone that boasts 158% higher sensitivity and a whopping 462% increase in physical noise reduction. The mic is 84% narrower to fit the phone’s slick design and is accompanied by two 1216 speakers.

Camera with cinematic features

Produced in collaboration with German company ARRI, the new camera has cinematic-grade features. The main camera supports Honor’s self-developed H1 imaging chipset and upgraded video technology with the ARRI Log C3 curve that provides a cinematic feel. The 200MP OmniVision OV52A main camera boasts a 1/1.28-inch sensor and f/1.57 aperture, alongside OIS and CIPA 8.0 image stabilisation technology. The front 55MP selfie camera is the first selfie shooter that supports a square format on an Android phone. The camera performance can be further enhanced with 500mm and 200mm teleconverters.

G500 and G200 teleconverters

As its name suggests, the G500 telephoto converter achieves a focal length of 500mm, enhancing the Magic 9 Pro Max’s telephoto by 5.88 times and supporting photography up to 14000mm. The teleconverter brings both range and quality, enabling users to capture wildlife or music and sports events.

G200 is smaller, lighter and easier to transport. Weighing around 88g with a length of 81 mm, its size can be compared to a lipstick. The G200 teleconverter brings a 200mm focal length designed for portraits and other close-ups. The product can be used with both Honor Magic 9 and Honor Magic 9 Pro Max.
