“ATMOSPHERE by Krallerhof” is a spa and wellness facility within the Hotel Krallerhof in Leogang, Austria, and was designed by Hadi Teherani Architects in collaboration with Kebony. Built as an adult-exclusive extension to the existing hotel and in harmony with the surrounding Leoganger Steinberge mountain range, ATMOSPHERE can be described as the embodiment of luxurious relaxation.
The design features a 100-meter curved split-roof connecting the spa to the main hotel via an underground passage and a recessed, circular courtyard. The expansive roof structure also serves as an elevated outdoor pathway, providing visitors with scenic views of the beautiful mountainous landscape.
The facility includes a 5,500 m² natural lake, incorporating a 50-meter infinity pool designed to meet Olympic standards, which is surrounded by an all-year, open-floor sun lounging space decked entirely in sustainably sourced kebony wood, a material chosen for its durability and minimal environmental impact.
The interior was designed to foster a connection between the guests and the landscape, made possible by the floor-to-ceiling glass walls that offer panoramic views and maximize natural light. Designed by Nicola Sigl for Hadi Teherani Architects’s interior complements the exterior’s natural tones and materials, using wood and randomly allocated greenery to create a tranquil atmosphere.
The project’s design combined locally sourced materials with cutting-edge environmentally friendly products, earning it a BLT Built Design Award. In the end, “ATMOSPHERE by Krallerhof” can only be described as comfort surrounded by mountains, all while following the themes of healthy architecture and sustainable design.
ATMOSPHERE was recently recognized by the prestigious BLT Awards, winning the coveted Architectural Design of the Year prize.
