Mark Your Calendars: Singapore Design Week Returns from September 26 to October 6

Singapore Design Week (SDW) is set to transform the island for 11 days this fall, starting from September 26 to October 6 with the theme of ‘People of Design’. Organized by the Singapore Design Council, SDW is one of the most splendid design festivals in Asia, bringing forward meaningful designs from talented visionaries shaping the trends of tomorrow.

“Singapore has a distinct vision and approach, driven by a desire to drive positive change around the world through design. For this edition of Singapore Design Week, we will be spotlighting the innovators whose impactful ideas help us all to live better. We invite all groups and communities to join us in Singapore and participate in a wide range of specially curated programs. Through being at this year’s festival, we hope everyone will gain a deeper appreciation for the role of design and be inspired to bring larger design outcomes to the fore”

What to Expect

Three defining pillars Design Futures, Design Marketplace, and Design Impact, will be the main topics of a wide range of SDW events this year. For the second year, Design Futures Forum will bring together 30 key professionals to discuss the future of the design and tech industry. This year’s Forum will be extended and will be held in the span of two days. Design Marketplace will, in turn, focus on the latest trends in the Southeast Asian region, while Design Impact will demonstrate innovative solutions for the future.

This festival will present the achievements of the network of creatives, the local community of artisans, and international talents. The theme will honor the creators who craft design pieces and contribute to society through their visions.

The festival will take place across three design districts—Bras Basah.Bugis, Orchard, and Marina, supporting local talent and Singapore‘s creativity. Each district will present unique exhibitions, installations, and workshops.

Bras Basah.Bugis Design District will include Hans Tan, Atelier HOKO, Gideon-Jamie, and Forest & Whale. The Marina Design District will host Nathan Yong and Neu Folk: Bridging Tradition and Future in Design, Design Pavilion at Millenia Walk, and sustainability-themed workshops. Finally, Orchard Road will offer a stamp rally to attend, a nostalgic kids playground at Far East Plaza, and a collective design show with the theme ‘Adaptive Reuse’.
