Lantern Lighting Collection Debuts as a Luminous Tribute to Heritage and Belonging

Sylvia Lee, Creative and Executive Director of The Goodman Studio is pleased to launch her evocative Lantern Collection, a tribute to family, light, and heritageInspired by traditional Chinese lanterns, these handblown glass tabletop lights represent both an intimate exploration of cultural symbolism and personal memory. As a French-Canadian of Chinese descent, Lee’s connection to lanterns stems from their profound presence in her family’s rituals and milestones.

Lee explains, “Lanterns are so much more than mere decorations—they symbolize comfort, meditation, grief, safety and peace. They light our way home, literally and figuratively. I remember when my grandmother passed away, my aunt told us to leave the lights on at home, so her spirit could find its way back. This stayed with me.”

Each lantern is a crafted work of art, featuring handblown glass that is double sandblasted to create delicate lattice and woven patterns. Paired with a simple brass base, these lanterns produce a warm, resonant light that transforms any space with a quiet yet profound elegance.
