From February 29 to March 3, IKEA will take over 28 Rue de Lappe, close to Paris’s Bastille. Taking place during Paris Fashion Week, the exhibition “IKEA+” is inspired by the fact that 48% of people don’t feel that their life at home is represented in the media, an insight from the IKEA Life at Home Report.

Life at Home“, a new collection of portraits by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, will be unveiled at the exhibition. Taken by Leibovitz during her tenure as IKEA Artist in Residence, the collection features twenty-five portraits from homes in Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Also featured will be portraits taken by six up-and-coming photographers from the unique mentorship programme led by IKEA and Annie Leibovitz. In keeping with the theme of promoting aspiring creators, visitors to the venue will also be able to experience the work of French stylists and designers from the alternative French fashion school Casa93. A daily programme of talks and events featuring themes around representation, culture, self-expression, and style will run inside the venue every day.

An IKEA event wouldn’t be an IKEA event without food, products, and music. Visitors will be able to taste IKEA food and drinks with a Parisian twist at the food court, and TESAMMANS, a colourful new collection of products from new collaborators, Dutch design duo Raw Color, will be revealed. For the music programme, IKEA has teamed up with Paris and London-based radio station Rinse to light up the venue every day until dark with an eclectic mix of acts and genres. All events are free, with the full line-up and tickets released on February 14.

Marcus Engman, Creative Director at Ingka Group (IKEA Retail), says:

“IKEA+ creates a global arena for emerging talents, ground-breaking artists, and musicians and brings together the international crowd of creative souls in Paris. Join us as we add up a diverse mixture of people, topics, and experiences that celebrate the new, the unseen, and the unexpected.”
