Glossy White Elegance and Marble Accents

In the heart of a bustling urban center, a businesswoman got the apartment of her dreams. A white interior with golden fragmented floors and a thoughtful choice of furniture make this a light and bright Russian apartment that is sure to give the resident a comfortable environment.

The studio responsible for the project is Alexander Tischler, which has already designed another space for the client. Led by Karen Karapetian, the team decided to follow a similar design as the one used on the first project designed for the client, but adding more details and accents to create a truly unique apartment.

The Renovation

The team decided to open up the original space, combining two rooms on the right side of the apartment to form a huge master suite, including a floating shelf by the window where the client can work while admiring the growing Moscow. The design was heavily personalised, as both the cabinets and flooring were made especially for the apartment.

The interior is almost like a white canvas, where the most intricate details were added. The floors, for example, are made out of Atlas Concorde porcelain stoneware tiles cut into several pieces to achieve a fragmented look. In between the tiles, the team added brass, which ended up creating an exquisite effect. The unique cabinets blend in with wall panelling as mirrors, having been covered with refined glass as the client wished for them to have a glossy finish.

From room to room

The living room was divided into several areas to better utilise the space, having been enough to create a kitchen, a dining area, and a sofa cosied up to an electric fireplace.

The kitchen and dining area

The kitchen, much like the rest of the apartment, is white with glass fronts, however, its upper modules bring some spice to the place as accent lighting enhances the silhouettes of the dishes and glasses through the bronze glass. Its natural quartz countertop is illuminated by accent white lights, a great contrast to the deeply warm lights inside the cabinets.

The dining table boasts a marble countertop, making it already an elegant addition to the space. However, the design team takes it up a notch by adding a golden Brand Von Egmond chandelier that blissfully hovers above the dining table – a great touch.

The living room

In the living room, the TV has a pan-and-tilt mounting bracket that allows for its use no matter where you are in the room. The cabinet where it sits was also carefully considered, as an optical illusion created by hiding a horizontal beam that had previously cut through the windows, raising the ceiling by covering the entire wall. The sofa is made out of light leather and can be regulated at different angles, making it perfect for any activity: reading, watching television, or taking a nap? No problem! The sofa can also be separated, creating an ottoman from its left module.

As mentioned above, the room has an electric fireplace that truly brings comfort to the next level, however, a perhaps nicer touch is the natural onyx added around the appliance. These onyx slabs cover the walls from top to bottom, making the walls and windows seem taller while also giving a pop of colour to the space. As some of this stone’s pattern is translucent, the team added matrix lighting to further enhance the natural qualities of the onyx.

The key is to make details pretty while also adding the necessary elements of any apartment. The team designed a supply-exhaust ventilation and air conditioning system that is barely noticeable. The doors are glossy white with bronze ends on both the panelling and frames. The lights are added in several spots under the ceiling, creating a beautiful atmosphere. All of these decisions create a functional yet elegant space, where the studio shows that just about anything can be turned into a beautiful detail.

The suite

The bedroom is a light-filled room as the windows face west, and the apartment is located on one of the highest floors. Three mirrored closets were designed, opening up the space and reflecting the natural light that daily embraces the room. Behind the bed’s headboard, soft wall panels trimmed with bouclé fabric are lined up while boasting the same fragmented look with brass inserts, like the flooring, carefully giving elegance to the room and creating a cohesive space.

Above the bed, the same chandelier as the one above the dining table can be found, a rich touch complemented by several lamps and sockets with brass finishes. Glass Italia bedside tables maintain the same simple design found throughout the house and help neutralise the other decorative elements.

The bathroom has a backlit onyx panel, such as the one in the living room, which is visible from the bedroom through the use of a transparent partition wall complemented by a bronze frame. The countertops are made out of white artificial stone with a built-in sink, ceiling-high cabinets hide the ugly water pipes, and the awkward space between the sink and bathtub has a mirror. The bathroom can, therefore, be considered the best example of beauty and functionality working wonders.

The spa

An element of this apartment that stands out is the spa area with a shower, a whirlpool tub, and a sauna. The entire home brings calm and comfort to the resident, who if ever in need of some more, can just hop in the sauna to decompress even more.
