Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW), one of the world’s biggest design festivals, is returning to London’s EC1 from May 20-22, 2025. This year, the event is expanding with three new exhibition venues, adding even more variety and excitement to its already-packed program. With historic locations like The Charterhouse, St Bartholomew the Great, and Studio Smithfield joining the festival, visitors can expect a mix of contemporary design set against some of the city’s most iconic architecture.
One of the biggest highlights of this year’s festival will be a large-scale public artwork by British artist Alex Chinneck. Known for his imaginative and playful architectural sculptures, Chinneck’s latest work will be displayed in Charterhouse Square, giving festival-goers a chance to experience his unique approach to design up close.

New exhibition venues
The Charterhouse and Charterhouse Square
This historic complex, dating back to the 14th century, will be a striking setting for high-end design, including furniture, lighting, and luxury finishes. International bathroom brands like Geberit, Toto, and Bette will be among the exhibitors, along with the renowned British fabric and wallpaper companies Colefax and Fowler.
Charterhouse Square will also feature Chinneck’s much-anticipated sculpture. The artist, who previously created the ‘sliding house’ in Margate, is revisiting his signature style, this time incorporating interactive elements. The installation will remain on display for several weeks after the festival, extending the event’s impact beyond its three-day schedule.

St Bartholomew the Great
Set within London’s oldest parish church, this Grade I listed medieval building will provide a dramatic backdrop for contemporary design showcases. French interiors brand Roche Bobois will be among the featured exhibitors. At the same time, the US-based publisher Sandow will bring its expertise in design media to the festival, hosting conversations on industry trends and launching its first-ever CDW Product Awards.
Studio Smithfield
This Grade II* listed 27,000-square-foot venue will focus on commercial and workplace interior brands above the historic Smithfield Market. Companies like Houzz Pro and Bandalux will showcase innovative solutions for modern office and work environments.
