Adizero Adios Pro 5, the latest running shoe from adidas, is based on the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 silhouette that made history when Kenyan runner Sebastian Sawe used it to set a new world record running 42 kilometres in under two hours. The Adizero Adios Pro 5 harnesses the innovations of record-breaking predecessors, reimagined for a new race-day experience.
Harnessing the technology of a record-breaking shoe
Inspired by the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, the shoe features advancements in weight, foam construction and carbon technology. These three innovations combined provide a 9% improvement in energy return, helping marathoners maintain speed during long races. For the first time in the Pro series, the shoe uses ENRGYRIM carbon technology visible around the shoe’s midsole, underlined through the heel’s reflective zone. Made of premium lightweight materials, the shoe guarantees greater comfort.

Weighing an average of 177 grams, the Adizero Adios Pro 5 is approximately 12% lighter than the Pro 4. Greater energy return is achieved through the combination of ENERGYRIM and LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam cushioning that also improves responsiveness and delivers a more energetic underfoot sensation. All-new carbon-infused ENERGYRIM technology allows more LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam directly beneath the foot while simultaneously providing precisely calibrated stiffness for additional stability and propulsion. The outsole combines data-driven LIGHTTRAXION technology with Continental™ rubber. Apart from providing lightweight traction and grip, the combination also boosts durability, particularly important for marathoners.
A fully reimagined upper features ventilation zones, internal support bands and an improved heel construction for a more secure fit. LIGHTLOCK 2.0 upper brings security while reducing weight. Adizero Adios Pro 5 shoe was tested more than any other shoe in its franchise. Approved by more than 25 athletes in Kenya, the US and Ethiopia, the shoe also underwent long-term wear testing, in-house performance validation and independent biomechanical research. The insight of Sawe and other athletes was crucial for the development of the shoe.
