A Basketball Court Transformed by ll-Studio, Nike, and Pigalle Becomes Paris’s Latest Instagrammable Spot

Designed by ll-Studio in collaboration with Nike and fashion brand Pigalle, this basketball court—a former parking lot between two buildings in downtown Paris—just got a new makeover and probably has already made it to your Instagram feed as the latest cool spot for your photos.

Launched in 2009, the Pigalle Duperré Court has been transformed five times, thanks to Nike‘s support in redesigning this local art space. Known for its colorful design and dedication to inclusivity, this playground is an ever-evolving space for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and enjoy the game.

“Our court in Paris birthed a community. We transformed a parking lot into a place that has fostered a family and inspired people. All the subtle details that can make this magic happen were united.”

The court was designed using sustainable and durable materials, such as a weather-resistant rubber surface made with Nike Grind. This versatile and customizable design matched the latest Pigalle x Nike collection, making it look colorful and bright amongst the streets between Moulin Rouge and Montmartre.

The first version of the Pigalle basketball court was designed by the French-Asian artist Yué ‘Nyno’, who created silhouettes of such basketball stars and legends as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Scottie Pippen on the court’s walls. Over the years, the renovations have become bolder and more creative. The latest version has just been revealed to the public.

“Here, sport transcends competition, becoming a shared act of creation. The linear, optical pattern composition of the court symbolizes life’s diversity of cultures, ideas, and individuals blending into a universal language of inclusion and unity. This is the infinite game: no boundaries, no end, just endless play”
