New Balance introduces the Made in USA 2040v5, the most ambitious project produced domestically. The silhouette pushes the boundaries of the brand’s prominent domestic manufacturing by combining premium materials, complex production processes, and advanced technologies.

Fourteen years ago, New Balance produced the original 2040v1, showcasing the possibilities of its Made in USA footwear series. 2040 has continued, employing new technologies and advanced production techniques in the US-based factories of the brand.
As its name suggests, Made in USA is a line of products that contains 70% or more of domestic value. The footwear is manufactured in one of the company’s five footwear factories in New England. Exquisitely crafted, the new Made in USA silhouettes represent a limited portion of New Balance USA sales. The new model, 2040v5, is the most ambitious expression of craftsmanship in the history of the series.

The premium material palette, mostly consisting of Horween® nubuck leather, spans across the toe, foxing and mudguard. Details such as the debossed finish and layered construction elevate the comfort of the shoe. The bespoke TPU branding uses thermoplastic polyurethane to create modern, flexible emblems, featuring high durability, soft feel, and strong resistance to water and washing.
Underfoot, a full-length carbon fibre plate and a secondary medial carbon plate work together with three-part FuelCell, ABZORB SBS, and ENCAP cushioning system to ensure extra comfort. ENCAP polyurethane mould encapsulates soft EVA foam to ensure all-day support, while FuelCell foam delivers the highest energy return, and ABZORB SBS provides superior impact absorption. The exquisite craftsmanship and technically advanced features make 2040v5 one of the most uncompromisingly executed sneakers the brand has ever made.
Craft, performance and material integrity
Since 1906, Boston-based company New Balance manufactures footwear that empowers people and creates positive change in communities. Its latest 2040v5 sneaker combines outstanding comfort, advanced technologies, and contemporary design to create a locally manufactured shoe that pushes the brand forward. The sports shoe comes in a grey colourway with white and blue accents, and red detailing.

The Made in USA 2040v5 will first arrive in the North American market. Customers in this area will be able to purchase the latest sneakers from the 2040 series on the footwear company’s official website and selected retailers starting today, August 20, 2026. A suggested retail price is $400. Everyone else will have to wait until May 2027 for the sneaker to appear on the global market.
