Haruma, a furniture brand from Ahmedabad, has drawn attention to itself by creating niche furniture in the Indian market. The latest Inception collection is inspired by brutalist elements from Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novel Dune, mixed with ethnic elements and colours. The collection designed by Ramesh Lohar and Bindi Shah of R+R Architects combines bold contrasts with raw textures and architectural accuracy.
“Each piece exemplifies minimalist design, where structure meets simplicity, creating a powerful spatial presence”.
Parth Patel, Haruma founder

The Sand Dune and Warden Chairs
The Sand Dune dining chair combines sleek design with innovative materials. The plush upholstery provides a comfy seating experience. The eye-catching sculptural frame combines durable materials such as wood, metal, and composite elements, underlining the art of harmonising style, functionality, and material fusion. A versatile design piece, the chair will undoubtedly elevate any space it inhabits.
The other chair in the collection, named the Warden Armchair, embodies brutalist aesthetics with a bold blend of layered geometric lines and contemporary cosiness. Dominated by a muted pinkish palette, the chair makes a stark contrast with the rest of the furniture in the collection.

Dark Horse Light
Finally, the collection includes a Dark Horse lighting fixture inspired by the ornithopter (an aircraft that flies by flapping wings) from the above-mentioned novel. The flexible ball joints, which highlight the mechanical elegance of the sculptural lighting installation, capture the core of movement and flight. The durability of materials such as wood, brass and carved marble provides strength and timelessness. A striking combination of dark and light elements, accompanied by shiny brass details, makes this portable floor lamp a perfect fit for both modern and industrial-themed spaces.

Haruma Luxury Furniture Design
Haruma was founded by industry veterans Mahesh Patel and Parth Patel. Both designers brought their extensive expertise to the brand, which quickly became a leader in the Indian luxury furniture market. From the beginning, the company has focused on quality, innovation, customer satisfaction, and timelessness achieved through the use of sturdy materials and modern designs.
Working with the mission of blending contemporary design and traditional Indian craftsmanship, the duo embellishes interiors with sculptural artistry without sacrificing quality. And while both co-founders have equally contributed to the brand’s success, each brings their own skills to the table. Mahesh is in charge of production precision and quality assurance, while Parth brings a visionary approach which ensures that every design features a unique mix of modernity and everlasting charm. In their work, the studio often collaborates with interior designers and architects to bring exceptional pieces to life.
