The SPIN air is a unique tabletop fireplace designed by German studio höfats GmbH, with Thomas Kaiser as lead designer, that recently won the European Product Design Award‘s “HOME (Household Products) / Home: Interior Design Elements” category. This is a lamp with a very distinctive element, a visible flame, which can be safely enjoyed when indoors without the usual mess that comes with fire.
Sculpting fire
SPIN air was built as a “sculptural form”, simple yet striking on purpose. It is a glass cylinder set on a base that frames a long flame, making it visible from all angles. It is this direct view that defines the product, with the studio highlighting the design as a “fusion of the archaic with the modern [that] celebrates the captivating power of fire“. The metal base comes in black, green, and red, giving buyers the chance to choose the best option for their homes.
Controlling a natural element
Although SPIN air uses the same trusted Bio-Burner technology as earlier SPIN models, delivering the same flame height, look, and burn time, its innovation lies in the details you don’t immediately see. SPIN air is fuelled by natural höfats bioethanol, ensuring that the burn is smoke-free and odourless, therefore suitable for both indoors and outdoors. This “swirling flame sets stylish accents” in any room, says the studio, bringing “the magic of fire into the cosmopolitan lifestyle“.
