Cork isn’t just for wine bottles anymore; it’s joining the design world as one of the most versatile, sustainable, and unexpectedly chic materials in interiors. Momentum, the largest US supplier of contract textiles and wallcoverings, has teamed up with Muratto, the global leader in cork innovation, to launch a collection that pushes this natural material into new territory. This partnership merges Momentum’s design-forward ethos with Muratto’s artisanal expertise, resulting in two acoustic product lines — Organic Blocks and PrimeCork — that bring the beauty, integrity, and sustainability of cork to commercial interiors. With cork’s exceptional sound absorption and inherent durability, the Muratto Collection offers an eco-conscious approach for offices, healthcare facilities, and hospitality settings without compromising performance or aesthetics.
From its very foundation, the Muratto Collection champions sustainable design through the use of cork. This 100% natural, renewable, recyclable, and biodegradable material is carefully harvested from the bark of cork oak trees using a gentle process that preserves the health and longevity of the forests. As cork oak forests serve as vital ecosystems by supporting biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and healthy soil, the collection helps reduce a project’s environmental footprint in addition to supporting regenerative practices.
The Muratto Collection introduces dimensional, tactile surfaces that bring richness to interior spaces and present an unconventional approach to traditional acoustic applications. The collection’s 20+ formats of acoustic panels, strips, blocks, and tiles are available in a spectrum of colors, from muted neutrals to energizing accents, and adapt seamlessly to a range of layouts, from bold focal points to clean, minimalist designs.
Organic Blocks reimagines cork as an artistic, sculptural material, delivering textured, multi-faceted surfaces that add warmth, acoustic benefits, and visual impact. The precision-crafted construction creates a sense of movement and tactility, transforming spaces into sensory experiences while maintaining a natural, refined aesthetic. The four types of Organic Blocks consist of:
- Design Blocks: Nine bold, high-relief geometric forms, including hexagons, waterdrop-inspired shapes, and intricate beehive patterns, can transform walls into captivating visual masterpieces.
- Complements: Designed to pair seamlessly with Design Blocks, these cork-based tiles are filled with 100% natural preserved moss and come in six different shapes. They introduce vibrant biophilic elements that bring life and texture to interiors.
- Cork Strips: Sleek, horizontally layered tiles with modern, linear texture and visual rhythm that comes in eight different patterns — ranging from a fluid, soothing wave pattern to a geometric pattern inspired by the Cubism art movement.
- Acoustic Panels: Crafted as high-performance solutions, these panels, available in two different designs, to maximize acoustic benefits (0.7 NRC) while casting shadow-enhanced patterns for architectural depth.
By contrast, PrimeCork offers a smooth, refined cork surface in rich, organic tones. Its subtle texture and matte finish create a soft, sophisticated backdrop that complements a variety of interiors. PrimeCork wall tiles are available in two styles:
- Classic: Featuring a smooth, velvety touch, this timeless wall tile imparts a classic, elegant look to spaces.
- Premium: This wall tile adds a trendy, contemporary edge to modern and traditional spaces with its subtle metallic sheen.
The collection’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its material use into the manufacturing process. Driven by a zero-waste philosophy, every cork fragment is repurposed to minimize environmental impact. Not only are cork scraps used to produce new patterns, several Design Block patterns were deliberately designed to incorporate scraps, turning waste into visually striking and purposeful design elements.
Naturally anti-microbial and anti-static, cork contributes to healthier indoor environments by resisting mold, bacteria, dust, and allergens. The collection is PVC-free and meets rigorous environmental standards, aligning with Momentum’s broader goals around circularity and material transparency. The Muratto Collection proves that acoustic benefits, design impact, and environmental stewardship can coexist — offering designers and specifiers a powerful alternative to conventional materials.
The Muratto Collection debuts during NeoCon 2025 at the Momentum showroom (THE MART Ste 323).
