Unveiling Comfort and Durability in BoConcept’s Cancún Outdoor Collection

Designed in collaboration with renowned Danish designer Morten Georgsen, Cancún was created to maximise the outdoor living experience. The result? A capsule of outdoor dining and lounge furniture that brings comfort of indoors as you get closer to nature. “As consumers continue to prioritise spending time outside, outdoor spaces are increasingly being thought of as extensions of indoor living spaces”, says Claus Ditlev Jensen, BoConcept’s Head of Design. “We also wanted to bring the colourful spirit of Cancún through with this collection. It’s about taking time out to enjoy life.”

With a modern and minimalist design, characterised by clean lines and organic round forms, the new Cancún Outdoor Kollektion brings effortless elegance to any outdoor setting, from patios and terraces to balconies and gardens. “When we started the Cancún project our source of inspiration was the shortcomings of most outdoor furniture”, says its designer Morten Georgsen. “We realized that we needed a long and thoroughly thought-through list of what constitutes the perfect outdoor dining and lounging set.” The capsule includes a stackable outdoor dining chair (available with or without armrests), an outdoor dining table in two sizes and an outdoor café table in two sizes, as well as an outdoor lounge chair, an outdoor lounge sofa and a matching outdoor lounge table in two sizes. “One of our main aims was to design a garden furniture set that’s versatile and comfortable for many hours of enjoyment,” says Georgsen. “This means no edgy corners – it’s all rounded, inviting and smooth.” It is also designed to be incredibly durable. “This is a timeless design that will be your partner for years.”

The chairs are super lightweight and therefore extremely mobile. “We wanted to design a light chair that’s easy to move around,” says Georgsen. “And being stackable was a must – ready to stack away for the winter and save space in your garden and on balconies. “

“You can stack up to eight chairs with this collection”, adds Ditlev Jensen. “This is outstanding engineering – so practical and convenient. The chairs are made from lightweight aluminium, too, making it possible for most people to carry a stack of eight chairs.”

Available in two colourways – BoConcept’s classic Ash Grey and a fresh, trend-forward Matte Green – this practical capsule is made with lightweight materials like galvanised steel and aluminium to ensure longevity and durability. “Whilst lightweight aluminium is preferable for the chairs, steel is the chosen material for the table”, says Georgsen. “We wanted it to be substantial – however still manageable to move. And if the surface is uneven, as most balconies and terraces are, the legs come with adjustable ‘feet’.” The steel is also galvanized meaning Cancún can be outside in all weathers and even close to the sea without rusting. “Rust is not acceptable, ever!”

Then there’s the soft furnishings that add indoor-outdoor appeal. Upholstered in a soft, cosy boucle fabric, the Cancún seat and back cushion are available across all seating. The cushion is offered in an additional two colours, allowing you to create a cool tone-in-tone look with Ash Grey or Matt Green cushions, or add contrast with Matt Orange or Matt Blue cushions. “The warm grey colour is not only beautiful and easy to match with other colours, it’s also an ideal shade that doesn’t reflect sunlight”, says Ditlev Jensen. “The green colour has the same effect and is on trend, too.”

So has BoConcept managed to design the perfect outdoor collection with Cancún? Georgsen believes so. “Cancun goes everywhere – terraces, balconies, bars, restaurants, hotels, sun, rain, frost, snow. Great fit, great comfort, great durability. Challenge completed!”
