Torno by Eureka Celebrates Materiality Through Ceramic, Wood, and Ambient Glow

Heading: Eureka

Torno by Eureka is rooted in simplicity and depth. Partially handcrafted, the luminaires are made of natural materials (ceramic and locally sourced wood), providing a unique sculptural quality and organic presence.

Natural, locally-sourced materials

With every curve, the Torno pendant brings a natural touch indoors, deepening the connection to nature. The shape of the lamp was inspired by traditional ceramics and Spanish stonework. Bold on the outside and soft on the inside, the Torno design provides an artistic feel.

Hand-finished, hand-painted and hand-glazed

Production begins with moulding the ceramics, followed by hand-finishing to refine the final product. The pendants are then hand-painted and hand-glazed. The wood luminaires are cut by a machine and then tweaked by hand. This partly handcrafted production process makes every Torno unique. The veining of wood varies from one object to another, while ceramic lamps feature slight variations in shape.

Celebrating Materiality

The Torno light fixtures celebrate materiality, underscoring the beauty of wood and ceramic, while also highlighting how the light interacts with the material. The Torno caters to designers who are looking to add an edge to the space and create a bold interior with warm and refined natural organic materials. Nature-inspired finishes come in several colours:

  • Natural Marple and Natural Oak for wood pendants
  • and Coal Black, Terracotta Brown and Ivory White for ceramic Tornos

Torno’s flexible, modular design

The luminaire can be used in several ways. Torno’s modular design allows the interior designers to stack up to three pendants on top of one another to create a voluminous visual lighting composition. Or use several lamps of varying mounting heights to create a playful cluster of luminaires.

Furthermore, Torno can be wall and ceiling mounted, suspended from a stem or aircraft cables. The multitude of options and shades allows the interior designers to create attention-grabbing, playful compositions. Designed with hospitality spaces in mind, the light creates a soft and inviting ambience.

Two-way glow

Even low-glare light is coming from a frosted diffuser with 750 lumens of downlight. The pendant delivers functional downlighting and an ambient glow using one light engine, with a single COB (Chip on Board) and precisely machined acrylic (PMMA) diffuser creating soft illumination. The Torno’s interior repurposes and reflects the light, resulting in 125 lumens of added ambient glow.

The organic, bold design of Torno by Eureka Lighting has won a SIT Furniture Design Award in the Ceiling Lights category. The hand-finished, unique sculptural pendant will undoubtedly become the favourite of interior designers who appreciate materiality and customisation opportunities, encouraging playfulness and creative expression within a space.
