Completed in 2024 by the Nikki Beach Hospitality Group, the award-winning renovation of Nikki Beach Ibiza mostly focused on mixing the best of modern hospitality with quality local materials and an open coastal aesthetic. Led by Remi Viale, the interior redesign makes consistent use of natural textures, soft colours, and details reminiscent of the local culture.
A beachy makeover
The main dining and lounge areas meet in a central open-air terrace framed by a wooden pergola, an important element as it provides shading without enclosing the space, maintaining sightlines toward the beach and surrounding vegetation. Furniture throughout the terrace includes low-profile wooden tables and lounge seating with white cushions, and materials remain consistent across all seating zones, with natural wood surfaces used in structural and movable elements.
Several architectural interventions attempt to bridge the design with local traditions; however, these do not try to replicate historic forms. With its personalised hand-painted ceramic tiles in Ibizencan motifs, the restaurant was given locally sourced terracotta planters to help separate the space. These traditional décor pieces are complemented by curtains made from off-white Ibizencan linen, which help soften the edges of the structure and filter light by being suspended across openings and other transitions.
Three walls are used as display surfaces for original hand-made paintings by Spanish artist Curro Leyton, which were added as permanent fixtures rather than part of rotating collections. These pieces were selected and installed to provide continuity between the resort and the island’s contemporary art scene.
This renovation prioritises the outdoors and natural ventilation, with most interventions avoiding enclosed forms or excessive technological systems. The resulting layout is flexible and comfortable, allowing guests to relax during both daytime and evening, plus enjoy Ibiza during the many events held in the space.
