Nordstrom NYC’s flagship store on 57th Street is stepping into a realm of holiday wonder with “The Blizz on 57th Street”, an extraordinary seasonal activation as part of the brand’s “Wonder All the Way” campaign. Running through January 5, 2025, this holiday takeover transforms the iconic shopping destination into a dazzling celebration of imagination and magic, making it a must-visit for design enthusiasts and holiday revelers alike.
A whimsical holiday takeover
At the heart of this immersive experience is Mr. Blizz, a delightful inflatable character stationed at the 57th Street entrance. With the enchanting ability to bring everyday objects to life, Mr. Blizz presides over a cast of whimsical characters, including Dimmy & Quaser, the burned-out stars; Rose, Ruby & Violet, the chatty lipsticks; and Connor & Connie, the humble traffic cones. These larger-than-life inflatables are brought to life with the voices of legendary filmmaker John Waters and actress Fran Drescher, adding a playful narrative that engages visitors of all ages.
Interactive adventures await
Inside the flagship, the sense of wonder deepens with interactive elements and design-driven features. Visitors can encounter Pigeonthia, a mystical, fortune-telling pigeon, or try their luck with the Wonder Ring, a token-operated machine that dispenses whimsical rings aligned with personalized fortunes.
To enhance the adventure, a treasure map with a collectible sticker book guides guests through the store to discover all the Blizzy creatures, offering opportunities to win exciting prizes along the way. This curated blend of storytelling and design transforms Nordstrom NYC into a world where imagination knows no bounds.
A collaborative creative vision
The creative vision behind “The Blizz on 57th Street” is the work of a stellar team led by Thom Bettridge, editor-in-chief of i-D Magazine, and Matthew Mazzuca, former creative director of Barneys New York. Collaborating with illustrator Anthony Ferrara, artist Desi Santiago, and graphic designer Gian Gisiger, the collective’s artistic prowess shines in every detail. Olivia Kim, SVP of Creative Merchandising at Nordstrom, highlights the brand’s commitment to discovery and community, stating; “We are beyond excited to bring this unique spirit of New York to our flagship this holiday season.”
Adding to the festive cheer, Nordstrom’s beloved Santa Snow Show returns from November 29 to December 24, featuring daily performances and “elf-ies” with Santa on the lower level. Together, these elements make “The Blizz on 57th Street” an unforgettable holiday destination that seamlessly merges art, design, and the joy of the season.
