Save the Date: SIT Furniture Design Award and BLT Built Design Awards Head to Basel in 2025

On Friday, November 21st, 2025, the SIT Furniture Design Award and the BLT Built Design Awards will come together for a joint ceremony and gala dinner in Basel, Switzerland. The two awards will be celebrated side by side, spotlighting design that ranges from the spaces we inhabit to the objects we live with.

The event will be held at Elisabethenkirche, a 19th-century neo-Gothic church that has been converted into a cultural venue. The choice is deliberate: a striking example of adaptive reuse, it mirrors one of the most pressing design narratives of our time, rethinking existing structures and giving them new life.

The SIT Furniture Design Award was created to recognize excellence in furniture and interior design. It celebrates projects that balance function, aesthetics, and sustainability, from bold statements to quietly brilliant solutions. Open to independent designers, emerging talent, and global studios, it offers a platform to connect innovation with real-world impact.

The BLT Built Design Awards, meanwhile, take a broader view, honoring work across architecture, interior design, landscape, and construction. The program highlights projects that challenge conventions and propose new ways of thinking about built environments, whether through form, materials, or social relevance.

This year’s ceremony will honor winners from both 2024 and 2025, with trophy presentations, a seated dinner, and project showcases throughout the evening. All attending winners will be invited on stage, and each awarded firm will receive two complimentary tickets. The reservation platform opens in August.

Basel, with its rich architectural heritage and cultural scene, provides the ideal setting for a celebration that transcends disciplines, generations, and design philosophies.
