Japanese brand Ultrafabrics, the world’s leading animal-free performance fabric manufacturer, is pleased to partner with furniture brand .annud to launch the whimsical new sushi-inspired stool collection called “Nigiri“, designed by Dibloo Estudio.

“It’s this connection between our Japanese identity and these beautifully crafted stools in the form of nigiri sushi, the traditional rice ball with a delicate layer of fish placed on top. Each piece is perfectly proportioned and skilfully upholstered, an ideal partnership between form and material that captures the essence of Japanese craft. We are delighted .annud and Dibloo wanted to use our colourful Japanese-crafted Ultraleather for these poetic little chairs.”

Because of its premium quality and deep sustainability commitments, Ultrafabrics is the go-to global performance fabric partner for both small and large international furniture brands, including MillerKnoll, Steelcase, Haworth, and Andreu World. The Nigiri collection, which uses fabric from Ultrafabrics’ Ultraleather line—in Sassy, a sunny yellow—debuted at the Habitat Furniture and Lighting Fair in Valencia this month.

Pilar Tárraga, Design Manager at .annud, says: “These Dibloo Estudio pouffes are such a visionary, creative design, so we included it in our newest collections. Ultrafabrics, with its durable, vibrant colours, was the obvious textile for the product. The seat, made of oak plywood, adds a warm yet playful touch as it can be lacquered in fun colours. The black elastic band, which can be used as a handle to carry the pouffe, completes the aesthetics of the authentic Nigiri.” .annud is committed to young emerging talents, such as Dibloo Estudio, a couple of young designers focused on designing pieces full of optimism and creativity.

Meier goes on to say, “As we anticipate the opening of our state-of-the-art mill in Japan in 2025, which will achieve a global, gold standard in sustainability and quality, its beautiful design moments like this one, created by Dibloo and .annud that make our brand journey worthwhile.”
