New Balance x Aminé: Bright Green Sneakers and Public Libraries

For his collaboration with New Balance, Portland-based rapper and songwriter Aminé worked on the ABZORB 2000 model, dressing the shoe in bright green inspired by his home county’s official logo. The colour and graphic details refer to public libraries (bibliotecas) and their role in the artist’s early life.

“The design was inspired by my local library growing up. I spent so much time there, and it made up such a big part of my identity that it was something I had to pay homage to. The library card, the colours, all of it brings back childhood memories that I cherish.”

The ABZORB 2000 features a full-length sole that combines ABZORB cushioning with ABZORB SBS pods, with a modular sole construction incorporating a Stability Web shank. The upper is based on minimalist design and, in this version, is executed in bright green mesh with glossy, synthetic tonal overlays. Embroidered branding appears at the heel, with a co-branded tongue label marking the collaboration. Additional details include sculpted midsole elements, a toggle lace system, and a custom box and tongue label specific to this release.
