Inspired by the goal of creating flexible seating options, the Log Stools offer a versatile solution within the lively environment of the Urban Forest. Easily movable and painted in striking neon colours, these stools cater to the personal comfort of people alone or in group gatherings as needed while also offering a conversation topic.

The stools were created by Paula Meijerink and Jared Brocklehurst, from WANTED Landscape, specifically to match the aesthetic of the Urban Forest, an annual temporary transformation of Victoria Street, Montreal, during the summer. These stools serve multiple purposes, such as providing support for attendees of the various museum programmes and cultural events organised by the city while also inviting casual visitors to pause and enjoy spontaneous moments of rest and connection in this vibrant, rich setting.

The Urban Forest brings to mind the nostalgia of countryside summers, and the design of the stools complements this perfectly by resembling logs arranged around a campfire. More than a “bring me back” moment, these logs make visitors want to sit and chat for a bit about their favourite elements of the Urban Forest.

Built to survive the harsh urban landscape of Montreal, where asphalt and concrete are kings, these stools are made from durable powder-coated steel. Functional at heart, the stools come in different sizes so that children and adults alike can enjoy a bit of quiet. Additionally, the stools feature “branches” of sorts that can function as handles or hangers for bags or coats, making them easy to move around while also giving visitors some time to breathe.
